God Is Here, Too.

There are prayers that naturally reach forward.
Lord, show me what to do next.
Open the right door.
Give me clarity.
Help me understand where this is going.
There is nothing wrong with these prayers. Scripture gives us every reason to seek God's wisdom and direction.
But sometimes our attention becomes so fixed on where God might be leading that we overlook where God is meeting us.
Here.
Before the answer.
Before the breakthrough.
Before the situation changes.
Before we understand what any of it means.
God is here, too.
The present moment may not be the place we intended to stay. It may contain unanswered questions, unfinished work, ordinary responsibilities, grief, hope, uncertainty, or simply the quiet repetition of daily life.
Still, this moment does not have to become merely a hallway leading somewhere more important.
It can become a place of communion.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10
Stillness does not require every circumstance around us to become still.
It can begin with attention.
God, I am here.
You are here.
Let me notice what is true before I reach for what is next.
There are times when faith moves us forward.
There are also times when faith teaches us how to remain present long enough to receive the grace already available.
Today does not have to explain tomorrow.
For now, it is enough to meet God here.
